Upgrading from Shimano EP600?

The DU-EP801 is a higher-spec Shimano Gen 2 upgrade path for compatible DU-EP600-equipped bikes. EP600 and EP801 share Shimano's newer Gen 2 electrical and mounting architecture, but bike-specific compatibility and configuration still matter.

• Higher peak power: approximately 600W vs. 500W for EP600
• Lighter: approximately 2.7 kg vs. 3.0 kg for EP600
• Shared Gen 2 architecture: SD300 communication and compatible Gen 2 speed-sensor family

Important: EP801 should not be treated as universally plug-and-play in every EP600 bike. OEM battery/BMS integration, firmware, wiring, drivetrain settings, frame packaging, and other bike-specific components must be compatible.

Compatibility

Designed for compatible Shimano Gen 2 EP801 applications and supported EP600-to-EP801 upgrade installations. Compatibility must be verified for the complete bike, not by motor model alone.

EP600 and EP801 share Shimano's Gen 2 electrical architecture, motor connection family, SD300 communication system, compatible Gen 2 speed-sensor family, and related mounting ecosystem. OEM-specific battery systems, firmware, wiring, displays, switches, covers, guards, brackets, and drivetrain components can still affect compatibility.

Do not use this listing as confirmation of compatibility with DU-EP800 or DU-E8000 systems. Those systems should be evaluated separately.
